What is a Mit-a-mit shaper? Well, I don’t really know, and it seems like nobody else does either.
I found this old piece of Australian-made machinery on eBay (of course) and the price was too good to let it get away.
Since it has arrived in my workshop it has had a very good bath in kerosine (much to he detriment of the lawn outside my shop), some lubrications and test running. I also scored a new Chinese machine vice cheap so I bolted that on too.
It hasn’t cut any steel in anger yet but I’m looking forward to learning all about it.
There seems to be virtually no info about this old girl on the ‘net. There is a little on lathes.co.uk but little else. Google is turning up some shaper enthusiasts and some info about running a shaper, so I’ll post back with anything I learn.
