I’m all for having information at your fingertips when you need it.
Setting up your welder for the job at hand can be one of those tasks that can send you crazy doing trial and error, or back to the books or Internet to get some guidance.
Here is a quick and dirty app from those helpful people at Miller (yeah the guys who make welding machines).
They have put some nifty info into an iPhone app (I’m led to believe there is an Android one too) to give you the basic settings for a given stick, MIG or TIG job. You pick the process, tell it the material, the thickness and the joint type. It then gives you some parameters to set up your welding machine.
Is it perfect? Nup. Is it better than nothing? Yep, especially if you are going it alone without any training.
